At Enmedex, we believe the best strategy to improving air quality is:

1st Elimination: (best) removes contaminants or their sources from your environment.

>>>>> 2nd Isolation: prevents contaminants from reaching you.

>>>>>>>>>> 3rd Ventilation: dilutes contaminants and introduces fresh air.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 4th Filtration: reduces remaining contaminants.

Our testing, laboratory, and inspection services will help you achieve one and two. Although elimination and isolation are the most effective strategies, we have found the following products also provide excellent IAQ improvements through ventilation and filtration.

Ventilation

The Lifebreath Heat Recovery Ventilator – (HRV)

Balanced ventilation helps reduce inside moisture and gases, and provides a consistent supply of fresh air for occupants. HRVs exhaust air from source locations (i.e. kitchen, bathroom, and laundry) and replace this air with fresh air from outside. The heat recovery comes from sending the exhaust air through a heat exchange core where the incoming air picks up about 80% of the waste heat.

Fantech Exhaust Fans

When heat recovery is not required, balanced ventilation can be achieved with less expensive exhaust fans. Axial (or “in-line”) exhaust fans are ideally suited for locations removed from the living or work area, providing exhaust of moisture, odours or fumes with low noise and high air volume. Fantech makes a variety of axial fans suitable for home, office or industrial application.

Panasonic Bathroom Exhaust Fans

Second only to HRVs, bath fans as the most effective appliance in controlling excess moisture indoors. However, many bath fans are unused or under-used due to noise. Building codes now specify that a bathroom exhaust fans must have a sound rating of 1.5 sones or less if run intermittently, or 1.0 sones or less if run continuously. Only higher quality bath fans, such as the Panasonic WhisperCeiling, meet these requirements. All bath fans should be controlled by a timer for adequate run-time duration. Vent-Axia Fan n’ Light Exhaust Fans

A unique variation on the bathroom exhaust fan is this combination of low-voltage halogen light with a low-voltage axial fan. The result is a quiet, yet effective fan with light that is ideal over tubs and showers. This unit is especially useful when connected to a heat recovery ventilator (HRV) to provide an exhaust boost or “zoning”. More info on Vent-Axia Fan n’ Light ...

Filtration

The Lifebreath Turbulent Flow Precipitator (TFP) Air Cleaner

The TFP air cleaner uses a process that tumbles air over a long series of pleated filter material. Dust particles precipitate out of the air stream and lodge between the pleats. This is referred to as a “off-line” collection system, because the dust particles are captured out of the direct airflow. The result is a relatively high efficiency without blocking the airflow with dust, the common problem with most other collection methods. The TFP air cleaner is one of a few air cleaners listed by Heath Canada as a medical device. More info on the TFP

The OAC100 Office Air Cleaner by 3M

The 3M Company has turned its extensive knowledge and experience producing filter material towards creating a limited line of small air cleaners. The OAC100 is a very quiet media filter with ionizer. A thick layer of charcoal bonded to a deep pleated filter makes this unit excellent with odours, particularly tobacco smoke. More info on the OAC100
